Greetings from Addis.
I am writing to you in my capacity as Chair of the Scientific Programme Committee (SPC) of the International Association for Official Statistics(IAOS) and International Statistical Institute (ISI) Regional Capacity Programme for the IAOS/ISI conference to be held in Zambia, April 4-6 2023.
The conference will be held in the tourist capital city, Livingstone, which also hosts one of the wonders of the world, the Victoria Falls.
I believe the conference comes very timely as the statistical fraternity in Africa works towards strides in improving the statistical systems to make them agile and resilient through the modernisation of national statistical systems.
The conference provides an opportunity to discuss questions on how to modernize their systems by interrogating the issues and devising practical solutions through sharing of knowledge and best practices. It will be attended by statisticians from all over the world.
We have put together an exciting programme, which includes papers prepared by statisticians from Africa. I am therefore asking that you consider joining the conference.
Please look at the details here.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Vice-President of ISI Chair of the SPC of the IAOS/ISI Zambia conference
(Director – African Centre for Statistics, UNECA)
