ISI Young Ambassadors
The ISI Young Ambassadors is a joint initiative of the International Statistical Institute (ISI) and the International Biometric Society (IBS), providing opportunities for early-career statisticians and biometricians to participate in international conferences and activities.
The initiative aims to support the next generation of researchers and professionals by encouraging international engagement, professional development and connections across the global statistical community.
Young Ambassadors represent ISI at the International Biometric Conference (IBC) and help strengthen engagement and connections among young statisticians and biometricians worldwide.
About the Initiative
The ISI Young Ambassadors initiative aims to:
- Support early-career statisticians and biometricians in participating in international events
- Promote interaction and collaboration among members of the ISI and IBS communities
- Increase opportunities for professional growth and international networking
- Strengthen engagement with the global statistical community
Selected Young Ambassadors may also be invited to contribute to ISI campaigns and ambassadorial activities following their participation.
Eligibility
Eligibility requirements may vary depending on the specific conference or opportunity. In general, applicants are expected to:
- Be early-career statisticians or biometricians
- Demonstrate scholarly contributions and engagement in the statistical community
- Meet any conference-specific or partner organisation requirements
- Have obtained their most recent qualification within the required timeframe, where applicable
Preference may be given to applicants who have not previously received a Young Ambassador award.
Selection Process
Applications are evaluated by a Selection Committee using criteria that may include:
- Scholarly contributions
- Motivation and engagement
- Curriculum vitae and relevant experience
Specific requirements may differ depending on the opportunity.
What the Award May Include
Award support varies according to the conference and funding arrangements but may include:
- Conference registration
- Economy-class travel support
- An allowance covering reasonable accommodation expenses\
- Visa-related costs where applicable
