The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping how data are generated, processed, and transformed. In both business environments and official statistics, AI is moving beyond experimental applications to become a strategic driver of innovation, efficiency, and value creation. This ISI Regional Webinar explores how AI can meaningfully contribute to the evolution of business processes and official statistical systems, while maintaining trust, transparency, and methodological rigor. Focusing on contributions from researchers and practitioners in the European region, the webinar brings together perspectives from industry, academia, and the public institutions. Speakers will present real-world applications ranging from autonomous AI systems in telecommunications to explainable AI pipelines in sports analytics, as well as strategic initiatives supporting AI adoption.

About the instructor
Siniša Arsić is a professional with a PhD in Information Systems and Quantitative Management, with 11 years of professional experience in Telekom Serbia, a major telecommunications operator in Serbia and the West Balkans region. Siniša executed a significant number of projects in the section for products and services development in mobile telephony for the residential segment, and for the last five years, he has been part of Digital transformation projects – within the domain of intelligent automation of internal business processes.
From January 2024, Siniša is the Director of the department for data, analytics, and intelligent automation of business processes, leading a team of expert data analysts, data engineers, data scientists and machine learning engineers.
For the last 11 years, from a scientific perspective, Siniša was researching quantitative management, data science, as well as decision support systems for SME&Soho segment in Serbia and Europe. Siniša has published over 100 research and conference papers (more than 10 research papers were published in international journals).
About the instructor
Christophe Ley is Chair of Applied Statistics in Actuarial Sciences at the University of Luxembourg and co-founder of GrewIA, a company offering comprehensive tailor-made training and innovative consulting solutions in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. He is currently also Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Sports Analytics. Among his main achievements are the Bernoulli Prize in 2024, a Teaching Award at the University of Luxembourg in 2024, and the 2014 Marie-Jeanne Laurent-Duhamel Prize for the best PhD thesis in statistics among all french-speaking universities worldwide over a period of three years.
About the instructor
Mr Alvaro Diez Soto is Head of Unit at Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, where he oversees the unit in charge of innovation and digital transformation. With a background in computer engineering, he previously held various leadership roles in Eurostat’s unit dedicated to digitalisation and science and technology statistics and before that on the IT units dedicated to statistical production. Prior to joining the European Commission in 2011, he worked for several years in the private IT sector.
