This webinar, hosted by the International Statistical Institute Academy, aims to provide participants with an overview of current and emerging economic issues and how the statistical community is supporting policymakers and researchers. Structured in three parts, the webinar will begin by exploring the current and emerging economic challenges that policymakers and researchers face in an increasingly complex global environment. Participants will gain insights into the dynamic forces shaping economies and the pressing questions confronting decision-makers.
The second part of the webinar will provide an overview of the recent updates to the System of National Accounts (SNA) and the Balance of Payments Manual (BPM), highlighting their role in equipping policymakers and researchers to better understand and tackle these current and emerging economic issues. The discussion will focus on how these updated frameworks enhance analytical capabilities, support informed policy responses, and facilitate robust economic research.
The webinar will conclude by outlining the statistical community’s implementation plan and timeline for adopting the updated standards. Attendees will learn about the strategic roadmap guiding this transition, the collaborative efforts underway, and the anticipated milestones that will lead to an enhanced set of economic statistics for the global community.
This webinar is designed for professionals engaged in the production of economic statistics, economic analysis, policy development, and statistical research, offering valuable perspectives on the integration of new standards and the collective journey toward improved economic measurement and understanding.
