Bochum, Germany—The 11th Bernoulli-IMS World Congress, hosted in Bochum, has made history, attracting over 900 participants from across the globe and affirming its status as a leading event in the fields of probability and statistics. Organised by a committed team of scientific and local experts, the congress delivered an outstanding programme, blending cutting-edge research with collaboration and a strong sense of community.
This year’s congress was especially notable as it marked the 50th anniversary of the Bernoulli Society, bringing a celebratory atmosphere to the academic proceedings. The Golden Jubilee was commemorated with a special General Assembly (GA), attended by nearly 200 participants, making it one of the most well-attended assemblies in the Society's history. The occasion featured a commemorative video, a presidential address, and a thought-provoking reflection by W.S. Kendall on the Society’s second quarter-century. These speeches, along with a collection of video interviews with past presidents and scientific secretaries, will soon be available on the Bernoulli Society’s website.
As the Bernoulli Society moves forward into its next 50 years, the success of this year’s World Congress highlights the vibrant and ever-growing community dedicated to advancing the study of probability and statistics. This remarkable event has laid the groundwork for even greater achievements in the future.
