The International Statistical Institute is pleased to announce the winner of the 2025 Jan Tinbergen Award: Tarikul Islam. This prestigious award recognises outstanding contributions by young statisticians and offers them the opportunity to present their work at the biennial ISI World Statistics Congress.
The award honours the legacy of Jan Tinbergen, the eminent Dutch econometrician and Nobel laureate, and is generously sponsored by the Dutch Stichting Internationaal Statistisch Studiefonds (International Statistical Study Fund Foundation). The Foundation aims to support developing countries by fostering statistical capacity, and the award aligns with this mission by encouraging the growth and development of young statisticians.
The 2025 competition focused on the theme of “Statistical Systems,” emphasising the critical role of robust statistical frameworks in advancing global development. Tarikul Islam, from the Institute of Statistical Research and Training (ISRT) at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, has been recognised for his remarkable paper: ‘Causal Inference with Misclassified Exposure: Correcting the IPW Estimator.’
Congratulations again to Tarikul Islam for this achievement!
We extend our thanks to the Selection Committee for their invaluable efforts in making this
