The International Association for Statistical Education (IASE) is proud to announce the upcoming IASE Roundtable Conference, scheduled to take place from July 2nd to July 5th, 2024, in person in Tāmaki Makaurau | Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand. Previous editions of the IASE Roundtable have attracted 40-50 participants from around the world and the host country, fostering the exchange of passion, expertise, and experiences in statistics and data science education.
Theme and Focus:
This four-day Roundtable will center on the theme of "Connecting data and people for inclusive statistics and data science education." Recognizing that data creation and utilization are inherently human processes, the conference aims to explore the inclusivity of teaching and learning experiences for both students and educators within the realm of statistics and data science. Through a blend of formats including in-depth discussions in small groups, the event seeks to advance understanding of conceptual frameworks, teaching methodologies, technological solutions, and curricular materials. Key topics of focus include:
- Supporting learners with diverse needs and abilities
- Innovative approaches to supporting learners in resource-limited settings
- Incorporating multiple knowledge systems into statistics and data science education
- Addressing socio-political dimensions of statistics and data science education
- Embracing interdisciplinary approaches to data and data literacy
- Adopting a humanistic approach to teaching and learning with and about data
Call for Submissions:
The Roundtable has already received over 40 submissions for papers, workshops, and discussion sessions. Distinguished by its interactive format, the conference encourages all participants to engage in meaningful dialogue in small group settings throughout each day, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing. All papers will undergo peer review, with authors receiving feedback before, during, and after the conference to refine their ideas. The proceedings will be published online on the IASE website as an edited collection by December 2024.
