A reminder that it is 3 months until the closure of the 2025 IAOS Young Statisticians Prize competition – hopefully manuscripts are either underway or thought is going into how present the material. Don’t forget the deadline is 21st February 2025 and all the details can be found here.
There are benefits for both the winners but also all entrants. For the winners there is the publishing of their manuscripts in the SJIAOS, cash and potentially travel so to present at an ISI / IAOS conference. As the judging of the prize is undertaken by a panel of eminent statisticians, and the SJIAOS articles are peer-reviewed, well-regarded and well-read across the Official Statistics community, this is all good for one’s resume or career progression opportunities. In addition, there is a recognition across many National Statistical Offices of the submitted papers, as an acknowledgement of the ‘pipeline’ of young statisticians. Even if you enter and are unsuccessful, you often reap some of these benefits.
