The ISI Academy operates demand driven and brings together the ISI and its Associations under a unified approach to capacity development, strengthening skills, fostering cross-disciplinary knowledge exchange, and supporting evidence-based decision-making worldwide in partnership with national and international organisations

About the ISI Academy

The ISI Academy was created in 2023 to help develop the capacity of statisticians and data professionals in ways tailored to the International Statistical Institute’s comparative advantages. The ISI Academy is a dynamic vehicle for nurturing sustainable strategic solutions to the priority international and regional capacity development challenges faced by our members. It provides a framework for our members to innovate by leveraging the International Statistical Institute’s scientific and organizational independence, our members’ passion for data and statistics, extensive cross-sectoral networks of expertise, high academic standards, and global and regional reach.

Our primary goal is to address the capacity development requirements within the field of statistics and data-related professions by leveraging our expansive global reach of members.

The ISI Academy is led by an international team of experts committed to strengthening statistical capacity worldwide. Bringing together experience from official statistics, academia, international organisations, and professional associations, the ISI Academy Team guides the ISI Academy’s strategy, ensures quality delivery, and fosters global collaboration.

Through coordinated leadership and specialised task teams, the ISI Academy works to design and deliver impactful and demand-driven capacity development initiatives.

LECTURE SERIES
The ISI Academy Lecture Series features invited expert lectures hosted in collaboration with academic and statistical institutions worldwide. These events promote knowledge exchange, research dialogue, and engagement across the statistical community.

Mentoring

MENTORING SUPPORT
The ISI Academy provides tailored mentoring support in response to specific national and regional needs. Through advisory engagements and sustained expert collaboration, the ISI Academy strengthens institutional capacity and professional development.

QA FrWork

Quality Assurance Framework
In partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the ISI Academy is developing a comprehensive training programme to strengthen quality assurance in official statistics.

StatSoc

Statistical Societies
Funded by the International Statistical Study Fund Foundation (SISSF), the ISI Academy supports the establishment and strengthening of National Statistical Associations in Africa, beginning with Burundi.
