The SAE 2025, an International Conference on Small Area Estimation, Surveys, and Data Science was held from 7 to 11 July 2025 at the historic Valentino Castle in Turin, Italy. The conference served as a satellite event of the International Association for Official Statistics and the International Association of Survey Statisticians in conjunction with the 65th World Statistics Congress.
During the conference, a special awards ceremony was held to honour Professor Ray Chambers with the 2025 Small Area Estimation Award. This prestigious award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the research, application, and education of small area estimation. Previous recipients of the SAE Award include J.N.K. Rao (2017), Danny Pfeffermann (2018), Malay Ghosh (2019), Partha Lahiri (2020), Wayne Fuller (2021), Robert Fay (2022), and Jiming Jiang (2024).
The IASS and ISI extends its warmest congratulations to Professor Ray Chambers on this well-deserved recognition for his exceptional contributions to the field of small area estimation.
