Call for Paper Submissions to Special Issue of Wiley's Environmetrics

22 February 2023

Environmetrics invites submissions for a Special Issue on Statistical Inference for Natural Resources and Biodiversity.

The investigation of the environment and connected problems represents a burning issue for current scientific research. The rapid decline of biodiversity at global and local scales, the increase in the number of damaged species and desertification processes due to climate changes, land-use changes and air pollution, the conservation and enhancement of forest carbon stocks paired with the sustainable management of forests and animal populations are solely some of the issues requiring a reliable assessment of environmental indicators, as well as a suitable modelling for explanation and prediction purposes.

The Special Issue derives from the Second International Workshop on “Statistical Inference for Assessing and Monitoring Natural Resources and Biodiversity”, held at the Department of Economics and Statistics of the University of Siena on 8-9 November 2022.

In accordance with the workshop’s main goals, this Special Issue aims to gather environmental statisticians and quantitative naturalists to propose and discuss methodological advances as well as to apply enhanced methodologies in the field of environmental and biodiversity research.

All the details are available here.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Species distribution
  • Habitat assessment
  • Biodiversity assessment
  • Wildlife populations monitoring
  • Forest resources monitoring
  • Remote sensing for environmental monitoring
  • Sampling strategies for plant and animal populations
  • Soil, water, and air quality monitoring

Full details on how to submit can be found on the Environmetrics journal homepage.

The submission deadline is 15 July 2023.
