This is not the first time I have reached out to you about our World Statistics Congress, and I cannot hide my enchantment with it. Since 1993, I have proudly been a regular at the WSC, but did not participate in the WSC2025 due to a delicate family health issue. Although I could not attend the scientific and administrative meetings as planned, I was able to appreciate their vibrancy and activities through snapshots, short videos, social media posts, personal photos, and messages from friends. I received excellent pictures not only from speakers and attendees in the conference rooms, but also of smiling participants from six continents networking at social events and informal gatherings.
This gave me a fascinating perspective on our Congress: the WSC 2025 as seen through the eyes of the participants. In addition to the ISI Marketing and Communications team, congress participants were actively sharing updates on their activities, thereby promoting WSC2025 within their communities and spreading its flavour across different countries. Several LinkedIn posts highlighted key discussions from the sessions, emphasising the importance of the addressed topics.
Participants from various continents brought the WSC 2025 experience home, continuing to propagate its messages and discussions, consolidating networks and resonating discoveries globally – creating the WSC ripple effect.
Have you seen any posts, articles, or news about WSC 2025 on social media, in a work communication environment or via your local statistical community network? I hope you have, as they represent valuable digital mementoes that highlight this vibrant knowledge-sharing environment.
Each WSC, with its administrative meetings, also marks the occasion to welcome incoming executive committees and new council members of the ISI and the Associations, as well as to acknowledge the renewal of some ISI committee chairs and members. In Brazil, shortly after WSC2025, I had the pleasure of witnessing our vibrant statistical community celebrate its engagement in these roles, alongside ISI award recipients and conference participants. It is a two-lane road that reflects the positive impact that the ISI and its Associations have on our community, as well as our contributions to the ISI family.
A defining feature of the ISI World Statistics Congresses and Regional Conferences is their diversity, encompassing both social and scientific aspects. They address a broad spectrum of topics in statistics and data science. While some may find this approach too broad, the opportunity to engage with specialists from across the statistical and data science community to discuss ideas, tackle challenges, and explore solutions is invaluable.
