ISI Ethics Declaration: The Basis for Professional Ethics in European Statistics
The Federation of European National Statistical Societies FENStatS, is a single association whose members are 27 European national statistical societies from 26 countries and one corporate member. The Federation promotes mutual communication, co-operation and interchange of views among all those interested in statistical sciences, in their scientific principles, in a broad sense and in as wide a range of applications as possible.
At its annual general meeting on 24 September 2024, it was decided to adopt its own declaration of Professional Ethics for Statistical Practice in Europe. Reference was made to the ISI Declaration on Professional Ethics. Furthermore, it was agreed that from now on there would be close cooperation with the ISI on possible further developments and that the promotion of professional ethics would be advanced in close partnership. The FENStatS Ethical Declaration is intended to be used in particular when accrediting European statisticians. This will allow further languages to be added to the list of language versions (currently 15).
ISI welcomes such close cooperation, as it opens up a wide range of practical opportunities to achieve common goals of promulgation, capacity building and training in professional ethics.
