The International Biometric Society is accepting Invited Session Proposals and Short Course Proposals through August 1st, to be offered at the 33rd International Biometric Conference (IBC2026), to be held 12-16 July 2026, in Seoul, Korea. Abstracts may be submitted here.
Invited Session Proposals
An IBC invited session features 2-4 speakers on a specific statistical topic, with the option of including a discussant. The discussant’s role is to summarize the latest research in the topic, making it accessible to a non-expert audience, and provide commentary on the talks during the 90-minute session. We encourage submissions on a broad range of topics in the theory and application of statistics to biological and life sciences. Sessions with a diverse range of speakers, including gender, geographic region, and seniority, will be given preference. Invited Session proposals will be evaluated by the International Program Committee. Proposals must include:
• Session Title
• Motivation for Proposed Session
• Relevance of Topic
• Keywords / Categories
• All affiliation & contact information for proposed invited speakers and discussant
• Tentative titles for all talks of invited speakers
• Agreement to present In Person at IBC2026 if accepted
Short Course Proposals
An International Biometric Conference (IBC) Short Course typically covers a topic of broad interest and is led by one or more instructors. Courses may be introductory or focused on advanced, specialized topics. Those with a strong computational component, such as methods supported by popular R packages, are particularly attractive.
We aim to offer courses that appeal to a diverse range of registrants, particularly students, early-career researchers, and participants from economically developing countries. Course selection will be based on Education Committee consensus. Short courses are scheduled for 12 July 2026, before the conference. They may be full-day (6-8 hours) or half-day (4 hours). Presenters receive a small honorarium. Proposals must include:
• Motivation for the course
• Proposed content(s) and potential target audience
• Description of the instructor(s)' previous teaching experience and subject area expertise
• References from one or two participants from a previous course taught by the instructor(s)
Authors will be notified of acceptance, rejection, or need for revision (of topic and speakers). Note that the IBC is unable to provide funding to cover travel expenses or registration fees for speakers participating in invited sessions. Thank you for your support of the IBC! Submission link here.
We look forward to seeing you in Seoul, Korea.
