The International Statistical Institute (ISI) is pleased to announce the selected ISI Young Ambassadors for the 33rd International Biometric Conference (IBC2026), taking place in Seoul, South Korea, from 12–16 July 2026.
Following a competitive selection process, two outstanding early-career researchers have been selected as ISI Young Ambassadors and will represent the ISI at IBC2026:
Agatha Sacramento Rodrigues (Brazil)
"Competing Risks and Spatial Frailty in Time-to-Delivery Analysis: An Application to Health
Regions in Brazil"
Pedro Miranda-Afonso (The Netherlands)
"A Joint Model for (Un)Bounded Longitudinal Markers, Competing Risks and Recurrent
Events Using Patient Registry Data"
The ISI Young Ambassadors initiative, a joint initiative of ISI and the International Biometric Society (IBS), aims to strengthen engagement among early-career statisticians and biometricians worldwide and support the next generation of researchers.
This year, the call attracted applications from a diverse international pool of candidates, reflecting strong interest and broad global representation. As ISI Young Ambassadors, Agatha and Pedro will present their work during the ISI session at IBC2026 and serve as representatives of the ISI community. The ISI warmly congratulates Agatha and Pedro on their selection and thanks all applicants and Selection Committee members for their contributions to this year’s process.
We look forward to their participation and contributions at IBC2026.
