World Statistics Day 2025 will be celebrated a few days after the 65th ISI World Statistical Congress, held in The Hague, Netherlands. The International Statistical Institute (ISI) is at the forefront of promoting quality statistics, inclusive practices, and proactivity in an ever-changing world (themes selected for 2025). ISI and its Associations are very active in promoting new developments in statistical methods and applications through courses and webinars, conferences, and high-level journals in academia, business, and government.
Developing skills and raising awareness of statistical methods are among our strategic priorities: prominent examples are the ISI Academy with its online and in-person courses (with more to come!) and the International Statistical Literacy Project, which recently engaged 23,000 students worldwide in a poster competition. Through its Public Voice Committee, the ISI takes a stand on relevant issues, advocating for the proper use of statistics in data analysis and its ethical application in accordance with the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics, as actively advocated by the ISI Advisory Board on Ethics.
This year, the ISI is contributing to World Statistics Day by launching its new publication: vISIon, the ISI Magazine. The journal is central to the ISI's mission and vision, open to society and connecting statistical communities worldwide. The journal is aimed not only at professional statisticians, but also at educated readers interested in how data is collected, made available, and analysed to address issues of concern to the world we live in.
The ISI wishes a happy World Statistics Day 2025 to all those who contribute to the success of statistics worldwide, and to those who prefer fake news to evidence-based analyses, hoping that one day they will change their minds.
