As part of the lead-up to the International Days of Statistical Literacy 2025, the International Association for Statistical Education is pleased to highlight the upcoming IDSL 2025 Pre-Conference Workshop, organised and delivered by Milo Schield. This workshop is designed to support educators, practitioners and advocates committed to strengthening statistical literacy across diverse educational and professional contexts.
The Pre-Conference Workshop will take place on 22 November 2025, from 15:00 to 18:00 UTC, and will feature the session “Statistical Literacy: Teaching Confounding without Algebra or Computers.” Led by Milo Schield, this session offers a practical and accessible approach to one of the field’s most challenging concepts. Participants will explore methods to teach confounding in a clear and intuitive way without relying on algebraic formalism or computational tools, making it especially valuable for instructors working with non-technical audiences.
This workshop provides a unique opportunity to engage in hands-on learning, exchange experiences with colleagues from around the globe and deepen understanding of effective strategies for improving statistical literacy. As a collaborative event, it brings together professionals dedicated to promoting informed decision-making and fostering a stronger culture of data understanding in society.
Importantly, all fees collected from the Pre-Conference Workshop will directly support the International Statistical Literacy Project, contributing to its global mission of empowering individuals to understand and use statistics meaningfully.
